Beginning Band - LUSD Music

Welcome to Band!!
oUR BAND SITE IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION, BUT WE ARE ABLE TO SHARE THE RECOMMENDED AND REQUESTED SUPPLIES FOR EACH INSTRUMENT.

Will my child need anything else beyond an instrument?
You will need to purchase a Method Book and necessary supplies, as outlined below, for your child. Please purchase “Standard of Excellence, Book 1”. Be sure you purchase the correct book for your child’s instrument.
We recommend renting or purchasing your instrument and Method Book from one of our reputable local instrument shops. Let them know Mr. Jacks and Mr. Dillaway sent ya’ :)

Instrument Required Supplies Recommended Extras and Upgrades

Flute (Basics): Flute cleaning cloth, flute cleaning rod
Flute Recommended Upgrades: silver polish cloth Key oil, key brush, Min-T-Mist, flute case bag (for extra security and accessories), flute stand, small flat head precision screwdriver, Padgard for flute

Clarinet (Basics): 1 box of 10 reeds (Rico 2.0 recommended), cork grease, clarinet swab
Clarinet Recommened Upgrades: woodwind mouthpiece brush, reed guard Key oil, key brush, Rovner Dark ligature, clarinet stand, Min-T-Mist, Padguard for clarinet, small flat head precision screwdriver

Alto Saxophone (Basics): 1 box of 10 reeds (Rico 2.0 recommended), cork grease, saxophone swab
Alto Sax Recommened Upgrades: woodwind mouthpiece brush, reed guard Neoteck Neck strap (full back strap for especially small players), Key oil, key brush, Rovner Dark ligature, alto saxophone stand, Min-T-Mist, neck swab, Padgard for Alto Sax

Trumpet (Basics): Valve oil
Trumpet Recommended Upgrades: trumpet mouthpiece brush, polishing cloth Slide grease (not oil), valve brush, “Berp” practice aid, Min-T-Mist

Trombone (Basics): Slide grease and spray bottle
Trombone Recommened UPgrades: polish cloth, mouthpiece brush Min-T-Mist, Trombone Stand, “Berp” practice aid

Baritone (Basics): Valve oil
Baritone Recommened UPgrades: polish cloth, mouthpiece brush Min-T-Mist, slide grease, valve brush, “Berp” practice aid

Percussion Percussion Kit should include both “Bells” and a drum practice pad. Snare drums are optional, and will likely stay at home. All stands should be included with the kit, including appropriate drumsticks and mallets
Percussion Recommened Upgrades: Mallets and stick upgrades/replacements will be recommended as appropriate for each student as the year progresses
